WHY I’M RUNNING

Strengthening Alexandria’s Future

I am running for School Board because I want to ensure that schools are great for everyone in Alexandria. As our division approaches the opening of the Minnie Howard campus, moves forward with collective bargaining and redistricting, and seeks to address overcrowding and safety issues, we are standing at the doorstep of immense opportunity. We need bold solutions to meet this moment. As a listener, collaborator, and problem solver, I’m ready to to work collectively to create solutions that will positively shape the future of our schools and our city for generations to come.

Meet Ryan

My wife and I have called Alexandria home since 2008. As a father of two girls attending Mount Vernon Community School in Del Ray, I have witnessed firsthand the vital role our schools play in shaping the fabric of our families and our city. For nearly two decades, I have worked nationally to improve student outcomes and I’m excited to bring my expertise to help strengthen Alexandria’s future. I currently serve as Chair of the School Board’s Budget Advisory Committee, so I understand the challenges facing our division, and want to join hands with the community to deliver solutions to support every child meet their potential.
